Online resources for children

Berkeley Heights Public Library continues to provide service during this time when we are closed. There are many online services for children that can be accessed through the library's website . Under ONLINE 24/7 LIBRARY select Children's (on the mobile website, select All Things E and scroll down to the Children's section). Additional educational resources can be found under Children's and Student Databases . Many resources require your BHPL library card number and some also require a PIN # (usually the last 4 digits of your phone #).

Some of BHPL's online resources/databases include:

TumbleBooks - animated children's storybooks, read-along readers & chapter books for preschool-grade 6
TeenBookCloud - ebooks for grades 7-12
AudioBookCloud - streaming audiobooks for all ages; select the Children, Classics or YA tab (for teens)
BookFLIX - animated videos of children's books and read-alongs
Hoopla - includes children's ebooks, comics, audiobooks; go to settings and turn on Kids Mode
eLibraryNJ (Libby/Overdrive app) - ebooks, audiobooks for children, teens and adults; can set Preferences (go to 'Audience') to Juvenile (Kids) or Young Adult (Teens) collections

Hoopla - movies, tv, music - go to settings and turn on Kids Mode
Kanopy - children's movies, tv series, educational videos - go to settings and turn on Parental Controls

Online language learning
Pronunciator & Rosetta Stone - both are listed under Children's and Student Databases .

In addition to BHPL's resources, many publishers are currently offering free access to online children's resources: the article "Reference: Free Online Book Access for Students and Kids" from the Publishers Lunch website is a compilation list of different collections of ebooks, educational resources, virtual storytimes, etc. for children and students. Please take a look!
